Weather: On 19 October, scattered to broken low clouds prevailed in the north and central sectors, Visibility was restricted to less than three miles ear- ly in the period in all areas, except the east and south coast, when it became unrestricted, Battle area temperatures ranged from 50 to 80 degrees. Fore- cast: Scattered low clouds with the visibility of seven miles, lowering to less than 3 miles in early morning fog, becoming seven miles or better later in the period. Battle area temperatures will range from 46 to 78 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: In the western sector, enemy groups of undetermined size continue to resist advancing UN elements northwest of Yonchon. In the central sector, enemy groups up to battalion size launched counterattacks against advancing elements near Hudong. From the Pukhan River east to the coast, enemy groups up to company size offered continuing light resistance to UN advances and launched a number of probing attacks against forward friendly elements, The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 17-18 October is 1, 336, of which 829 were southbound. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a General: UN forces in the central sector continued advances south of Kumsong against continuing resistance by enemy groups up to batal- ion strength. In the west sector, UN elements occupied objectives northwest of Yonchon against only light resistance. In the east-central sector, UN ele- ments continued advances northwest of Yanggu, while in the east sector, a number of enemy probing attacks were repulsed. Elsewhere along the front, UN forces continued aggressive patrol actions against scattered small groups.
