1. Weather:
On 20 November overcast low and middle clouds prevailed over North
Korea with visibility 3-5 miles in rain showers. In the south there were
scattered low and middle clouds with visibility becoming unrestricted by 1200
(KT). Forecast: A cold front will arrive in North Korea by noon 22 November
and into South Korea by 0300 (KT). There will be broken to overcast layers
from 2, 000 to 30, 000 feet with snow showers. Aside from frontal passage
there will be scattered clouds and unrestricted visibility. Maximum tempera-
ture 45, minimum 32. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Activity was heavy in the western sector as several probing attacks of
up to battalion strength were made south and east of Kaesong and west of
Yonchon, forcing a UN unit to withdraw at one point. Four tanks were observed
10 miles northwest of Yonchon. Mines damaged four UN tanks west of Kumhwa,
and several platoon- and company-strength attacks limited UN advances on the
east side of the Pukhan River. Other sharp attacks were made against ROK
positions northwest of Sohwa and south of Kosong. The adjusted total of vehicle
sightings for 19-20 November is 2, 006, of which 1, 536 were southbound.

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a.
General: UN forces attacking east of Kumsong were held to
slight gains by platoon- and company-strength resistance. Sharp enemy
probing attacks were repulsed across the front. Friendly artillery fired on
two enemy SP guns west of Yonchon, destroying one of them. Elements of the
3d US Infantry Division are now in the line in the I US Corps sector northwest
of Yonchon after having relieved 1st US Cavalry Division units. Two Cavalry
regiments are attached to the 3d US Division for operational control. In the
X
US Corps, the 7th ROK Division has relieved the 8th ROK Division on the Corps
