Weather: Clear to scattered clouds in beginning of period, becoming broken to overcast, with snow and rain during mid-period and continuing to close of period. Some early morning fog in south and west areas. Maximum temper ature 35 degrees, minimum 3 degrees. Forecast: Generally broken clouds becoming clear, except low overcast with snow in east coast area. Maximum temperature 25 degrees, minimum 15 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: The enemy in the west sector continued pressure against UN units five to six miles northeast of Panmunjom until near the end of the period when the enemy finally withdrew. Elsewhere, minor probing attacks and scattered opposition to UN patrols continued. Observations of enemy tracked vehicles (tanks and/or SP guns) continued to be reported in the west sector during the period. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for the period of 28-30 Decem- ber is 10, 133, of which 7, 609 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces in the west sector successfully resisted enemy attacks five to six miles northeast of Panmunjom and near the close of the period forced the withdrawal of the attacking enemy. Elsewhere, UN units con tinued aggressive patrol action against sporadic opposition. Friendly artillery was active against enemy troops, artillery positions and vehicles. The 27th Regiment of the 25th US Infantry Division departed Inchon en route to Koje-do at 300430 (KT) December. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Elements of the 1st ROK Division, five to six miles northeast of Panmunjom, advanced against platoon- to company-size groups during 29 December and reoccupied former outpost positions. Three enemy counterattacks of two companies each were launched against these Security Information
