1. Weather:
Operational in all target areas during the night of 1-2 January but
restricted operations during the day of 2 January. Today there were
broken high and middle clouds over Korea, clearing to scattered clouds.
Forecast: Scattered low clouds in the morning with broken high and scat-
tered middle clouds over North Korea. A cold front with broken to overcast
multilayered clouds with bases at 1,000 feet is expected on the North Korean
border by mid-day. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Enemy forces continued to oppose UN patrols in light scattered engage
ments. Several minor probing attacks and small-scale infiltration attempts
were made in the east-central sector. An unidentified aircraft dropped one
bomb 11 miles southeast of Kosong, on the east coast, at 022300 (KT). The
adjusted total of vehicle sightings for the period 1-2 January is 1, 762, of
which 977 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces continued aggressive patrol operations
across the front and repulsed minor probing attacks and infiltration attempts
in the east-central sector. Friendly artillery was active against enemy
troops, vehicles, and supply points. (FECOM) (SECRET)
