Weather: Clear over all Korea except for scattered low clouds. Visibility unre- stricted. Maximum battle area temperature 33 degrees, minimum 16g Fore- cast: Scattered clouds with visibility restricted 1 to 3 miles improving to 8 miles. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Small enemy groups continued to probe UN positions and to engage UN patrols in scattered clashes across the front. Light to moderate mortar and artillery fire fell in each Corps sector. Three armored vehicles were ob- served west of Chorwon, two of which were moving eastward. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 9-10 January is 97, of which 85 were southbound (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces repulsed small probing attacks and con- tinued to engage scattered enemy groups in patrol clashes. The 3d ROK Divi- sion assumed responsibility for the 6th ROK Division sector on the right flank of the IX US Corps effective 100800 (KT). Two regiments of the 6th ROK Division closed in an assembly area south of Yanggu. The first echelon of the 40th US Division (the 160th Regiment and supporting troops) arrived at Inchon at 110105 (KT).
