1. Weather:
During the period 311800 - 011800 (KT) a narrow cold front moved
SW through Korea, reaching the central sector by 1200 (KT), accompanied
by light snow and rain. Visibility was restricted in the early morning to
1 - 4 miles in haze and in the afternoon to 3 - 5 miles in snow. Battle area
temperatures ranged from 27 degrees to a minimum of 12. Forecast for
011800 - 021800 (KT): clear skies; visibility unrestricted after 0900 (KT);
battle-area temperatures from 25 degrees down to 12 degrees. (FEAF)

2. Enemy Situation:
Small enemy groups probed UN positions at three points during the
period. Hostile artillery damaged a friendly tank southeast of Kumsong,
and mortar and artillery fire continued moderately heavy on 7th US and
1st US Marine Division positions northwest and north of Sohwa. The adjusted
total of vehicle sightings for 30-31 January is 2, 497, of which 1, 827 were

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces repulsed light probing attacks and continued
to engage hostile groups of up to two platoons in size in patrol clashes.
3d US Division artillery fired on two hostlie companies and an armored
vehicle west and northwest of Yonchon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: Patrols from the 1st ROK, 1st British Commonwealth,
3d US, and 45th US Divisions continued to engage scattered groups of up
to two platoons in size in their respective sectors. Units of the 9th ROK
Division repulsed a probing attack by two hostile squads north of Chorwon
