1. Weather:
Clear over all Korea. Visibility unrestricted. Maximum battle area
temperature 25 degrees; minimum 8 degrees. Forecast: A cold front is
expected to move through Korea. Clouds associated with the front will be
multilayered with ceilings lowering to 1, 000 feet. Visibility 2 to 5 miles
in snow. Maximum battle area temperature 38 degrees; minimum 20 de-

2. Enemy Situation:
Squad- to platoon=strength probing attacks and patrol intercepts were
reported in all but the eastern sector of the front. Moderate artillery and mortar
fire was directed against UN forces in several sectors of the front. The
adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 17-18 February is 5, 311, of which
S, 299 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
AMRY:
a. General: Friendly forces continued patrolling actions across
the front. A reinforced company-size raiding party from the 40th US Divi-
sion engaged two enemy companies southeast of Kumsong. The friendly
patrol withdrew to the main line of resistance. Elements of the 3d ROK
Division regained positions lost in yesterday's action. (FECOM) (SECRET)
