Visibility restricted to 3 to 5 miles in rain showers. Maximum battle area temperature 60 degrees, minimum 36 degrees. Forecast: Scattered low clouds over most of Korea. Visibility restricted in haze and smoke. Maximum battle area temperature 60 degrees, minimum 32 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Enemy forces launched a number of generally small probing attacks against forward UN positions. Scattered groups from squad to platoon size opposed UN patrols across the front. Light mortar and artillery fire was directed against UN positions at several locations. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for the period 30-31 March is 1, 499, of which 942 were southbound. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings reported in Joint Daily Sitrep No. 483 covered the period 27- 30 March. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces repulsed enemy probing attacks in all Corps sectors and continued aggressive patrol operations across the front. Elements of the 11th ROK Division relieved elements of the 5th ROK Division in line in the east sector. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Troops of the 1st US Marine Division repulsed, after a two-hour engagement, an enemy squad-size probing attack against OP positions six miles northeast of Panmunjom. One hundred ninety=four rounds of mortar and artillery fire fell in the Division sector. An undetermined number of enemy probed a friendly patrol base of the 3d US Division nine miles west=northwest of Yonchon and were repulsed. In the same area, an undetermined number of enemy forced a friendly patrol to withdraw. Several platoon- and squad-size groups en- gaged friendly patrols. 45th US Division patrols, west of Chorwon, were lightly engaged by several squad-size enemy groups. The 9th ROK Division and the 1st British Commonwealth Division reported no ground contact.
