Weather: High clouds become broken to overcast by the end of the period. Visibility unrestricted. Forecast: Broken to overcast, middle and high clouds over South Korea. Visibility restricted in rain. Enemy Situation: Small hostile groups continued light probing attacks against UN posi- tions in each sector throughout most of the period, but activity increased early on the morning of 14 April, when company-size probing attacks were made against the 45th US Division west of Chorwon and against the 3d ROK Division southeast of Kumsong. Mortar and artillery fire continued moderate- to-heavy across the front, with greatest volume falling in the X US Corps zone. A total of 27 Korean civilian line crossers were apprehended on 10 April in the sectors of the 3d US, 9th ROK, and 2d US Divisions. The adjusted total of ve- hicle sightings for 9-13 April is 4, 416, of which 2, 109 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces continued to engage squad- to platoon-size groups across the front and counterattacked against a company-size enemy probing attack southeast of Kumsong on 14 April. The Philippine Battalion, formerly attached to the 3d US Division, was attached to the 45th US Division. In the 2d US Division sector, the Netherlands and Thailand Battalions moved out of the line to assembly areas, and the French Battalion moved into the line. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: An undetermined number of enemy probed an outpost position of the 1st US Marine Division south of Panmunjom on the night of 13 April; the enemy group withdrew after a brief engagement.
