Weather: During the period, the weather was generally cloudy, with some rain reported, and early morning fog and haze. Visibility was good, ex cept in East Coast areas. Forecast: Cloudy, with rain. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: Enemy forces in groups of up to company size continued sporadic probing attacks during the period, with centers of activity in the west sector in the vicinity of the Imjin River; in the Kumsong-Pukhan River sector; and in the area between the Yanggu Road and Kajon in the east-central sector. Scattered, generally light opposition to United Nations patrol and raider oper- ations continued by groups mostly of platoon size and less, highlighted by stubborn opposition by an enemy battalion southwest of Kumsong. The most numerous patrol clashes continued to be reported in the Kumsong-Pukhan River area. Enemy mortar and artillery fire continued light to moderate across the front, with slightly over 1,000 rounds falling in the 45th US Divi- sion sector and a similar amount falling in the 25th US Division sector on 21 May. The total reported number of enemy mortar and artillery rounds across the UN front for the week ending 22 May was 18, 545, almost half of which fell in the I US Corps sector. The adjusted total of enemy vehicle sightings for the period 19-21 May is 9, 705, of which 6, 103 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces continued aggressive patrol and raider operations across the front, and generally maintained positions, repulsing scattered enemy probing attacks.
