1. Weather:
Weather throughout the period was generally poor and was nonopera-
tional except for part of the first and last days. On 10 November there

2. Enemy Situation:
Heavy fighting continued in the east sector, where enemy forces of
up to two-company strength pressed attacks against hill positions three to
five miles south of KOSONG, on the first day of the period. Action dimin-
ished on the second day and continued light on the third day of the period.
In the west, ten miles west of CHORWON, enemy forces in two-company
strength renewed efforts to seize PORK CHOP HILL during 10 November
but all attacks were repulsed and action ceased in the early morning of 11
November, In the KUMHWA area, during the night 11-12 November, enemy
groups of two-company and battalion strength attacked UN positions on
SNIPER RIDGE and JANE RUSSELL HILL, northeast of KUMHWA, and
forced UN elements to withdraw after heavy fighting. UN counterattacks
were strongly opposed during 12 November but by the close of the period,
the enemy was forced to withdraw from all positions previously taken.
Elsewhere across the front, scattered, generally minor, probes involving
enemy groups of up to platoon strength were reported, with action dimin-
ishing as the period closed. No enemy contact was reported by two of the
UN divisions on the first day of the period, and by four UN divisions each
on the second and third days of the period. Hostile mortar and artillery
fire for the period totalled 39g 400 rounds, of which over 16g 000 rounds fell
in the IX US Corps sector and approximately 8, 200 rounds in the I ROK Corps
