(Maps attached)

From 2100/4 Dec (Korea) to 2100/8 Dec (Korea)
1. Weather:
The weather for the period ranged from non-operational to operational
as a series of fronts moved through the peninsula generally from north to
south. The first three days had intermittent snow showers which were heaviest
along the coastal areas. The last day of the period was generally good. Tem-
peratures in the battle area ranged from a high of 350 to a low of -30 F.

2. Enemy Situation:
Enemy activity decreased in the west-central sector during the period
and continued light elsewhere across the front. Northeast of KUMHWA,
enemy groups of up to platoon strength continued sporadic probes against UN
positions on SNIPER RIDGE, ROCKY POINT, and at two points about two
and four miles northeast of SNIPER RIDGE, all in the 9th ROK Division
sector. All these attacks were repulsed after engagements of up to one hour
and fifteen minutes duration. Minor probes and scattered, generally brief
patrol clashes were reported elsewhere across the front. These scattered
actions were highlighted by a day-long engagement between a UN raiding
party and an undetermined number of enemy about six miles south of PAN
MUNJOM on 4 December, and a similar, though much shorter, engagement
in the same area on 7 December. Hostile mortar and artillery fire for the
four-day period totalled approximately 17, 900 rounds, of which almost 8,500
rounds fell in the IX US Corps sector--mostly in the 9th ROK Division area,
northeast of KUMHWA, Sightings of enemy vehicle traffic totalled 5, 807, of
which 3, ,356 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:

A company-strength raiding group of the 6th ROK Division on 6 December
temporarily occupied an enemy entrenchment about five miles southeast of
KUMSONG, after overcoming resistance in an intense forty minute fight, in-
