1. Weather:
Weather for the period ranged from non-operational to operational. The
first day of the period was generally good but the second day had a high
general overcast with rain and snow. The last day brought a low overcast
with fog in many areas. Maximum temperatures 330, minimum 17°F.

2. Enemy Situation:
During the first two days of the period, enemy activity in Korea was
highlighted by a series of squad- to platoon=strength probing attacks against
UN positions on SNIPER RIDGE and ROCKY POINT in the 9th ROK Division
sector of the front, northeast of KUMHWA. On the third day,
action
flared
in the 1st ROK Division sector of the front, northwest of YONCHON. On
this day, a battalion-strength enemy attack succeeded in forcing UN troops
to withdraw from an outpost position about eight miles northwest of YON-
CHON. The outpost was later regained without contacting the enemy. About
a mile northeast of this first attack, a second battalion=strength attack against
a UN outpost position was continuing as the period closed. Also, in the 1st
ROK Division sector on the last day of the period, a company-strength attack
against the MLR was repulsed. Elsewhere across the front, scattered brief
probes from squad- to platoon=strength and small-scale patrol clashes were
reported. Enemy mortar and artillery fire for the three-day period totalled
approximately 18, 000 rounds, of which most fell in the IX US Corps sector of
the front. Sightings of enemy vehicle traffic totalled 14, 208, of which 8, 431

3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
A patrol of the 40th US Division engaged an undetermined number of
enemy north of INJE in a sporadic fire fight for six hours and thirty minutes
on 9 December. The enemy broke contact and withdrew. Elsewhere across
