Last night, I heard a pretty smart fellow make
a pretty good point on the radio. The fellow is
our National Committee Chairman--Bob Hannegan--
11
and the point he made is worth repeating. Bob
said that if the vote were taken in the home right
now--our next President would be Franklin Delano
Roosevelt. Every national poll, without exception,
shows this--and of course it's true.
But there's something else that's equally true.
Votes are not counted in the home. The payoff is
in the voting booth.
Then, the way I see it - - this places a tremendous
responsibility on us--as Democrats. Here we have
the people of this country delivering what amounts
to a mandate. They have demonstrated through the
polls a distinct preference for a Democratic admin-
istration. They know they need it, in order to
win this was as quickly as possible--and in order
to secure the peace that will follow. Yes, they
is NARA
want a Democratic administration.
