So after electing his mayor and city menager, he reached out to elect his governors, and his Senators. He must have a man at Jefferson City to do his bidding,and then as we had a Democratic President, he MUST have a Senator to obey him, to its pull the national Polical plums. He had a. little fellow by the name of Harry Trumen as whom he had made county judge,and/he had done practically everything that Pendergast desired as judge, ,Pendergast decided to promote him to Washingtone He Was needed there. Pendergast began his life as a bar room bouncer, and then was promoted to be & bar tender,later a saloon keeper, and last 9. WHOLESALE Liquor dealer. When he took charge politically,his plan was to continue politics s.S he had operated his liquor business. When prohibition forced him out of business, he organized a coment business,and took over ALL, ,practically,of the coment business for the city ,county and state. He made his public works man of the city,the director of the state highway roads. See how the money rolled into his coffers,not only in the city and sounty, but state.
