Hollywood, California Dear Mr. Burton: A number of assassination students, "buffs", experts or what have you, from all parts of the country, have decided to band together in a formal organization in an attempt to increase our chances of solving both the general and specific assassination problems. It is our hope in taking this action that we might (1) improve our means of exchanging information; (2) ob- tain financing for additional investigative work; (3) pool our strongth vis-a-vis the Federal Govern- ment, particularly, the National Archives; and (4) provide our members a modicum of physical protection by "going public" The idea formed recently at a three-day round-table discussion in New Orleans between Jim Garrison and staff, Bill Tumer, Richard Sprague and me. With just these few sitting around a table, we progressed a long way toward finding solutions to many specific problems that had seemed almost insoluble. We believe that if most of the responsible persons in the field will join together and work closely to- gether, we will maximize our chances of success. Hence, the new Committee to Investigate Assassina- tions. We hereby invite you and urge you to join with us as an active Member in the new organization. A copy of the Articles of Incorporation (as well as a list of those invited to join) is encloaed. You will note that your duties and responsibilities: as a Nember are minimal.
