K: The DPRC went very well. I want to make one thing
clear to you Mel. I am not going to get involved in the individual
weapons systems. I am not going to get into your business on this.
L: I understand. I just wantedto make sure there was no
misunderstanding.
K: And the way Dave handled it was just what we had in
mind.
L: Good. I got your memo on draft and the all-volunteer
business. I sent a memo to the President on that yesterday. You
have it
it might have been channeled into Marty Anderson,
but I wanted you to have a copy. Do you want me to send you another
copy?
K: Why don't you sent me another?
L: I've gotten a memo saying there is going to be a meet-
ing in the White House on Tuesday, chaired by Ehrlichman on this.
Are you going to be at that?
K: I think I better.
L: Should I?
K: Have you been asked?
L: Yes.
K: Then you better. You want it in the NSC, right?
L: I think we should look at it at some time there. This
will affect our national security posture for years to come.
K: You have made that point.
L: I worry about it going the domestic action route and that's
where it is now.
K: I understand. I think you better go to the meeting and make
the point.
L: Okay.
