I just got a message from my contact in Japan. He claims they are
working on a new proposal -- what he does not know exactly. He also
said that there is a lot of flexibility. He said that I should just tell
him what we need and his boss would try to get it. (Laughter)
J:
He did not know whether anything else was coming?
K:
He told me to call Shimoda.
J:
Shimoda does not know any more -- I am sure he gave me all.
K:
He told me Shimoda should talk to me and get my intervention.
J:
What does he mean -- intervention?
K:
Why don't I get Shimoda in and ask him if there is anything more than
meets the eye?
J:
I think Yoshino gave Phil (Trezise) all that he knows. If there is
anything more coming, I doubt if Yoshino knows any more about it.
K:
Shimoda?
J:
No.
K:
Should I stay out of it? Yoshida said it was still being worked on about
three hours ago. How can I call the Japs and ask if they have another
proposal?
J:
Let me suggest this we will wait through the night. If we don't
hear anything during the course of tomorrow morning I will ask whether
he expects anything further, or you can do SO.
K:
Are we going to break them?
J:
We have two versions -- Kendall's version which had more substance
and Yoshino's version. No, I don't think we break I think we should
keep this going.
