Z: We run into this all the time. Whenever we come out here it seems
that Laird or Rogers has gone on a trip and we get in all sorts of questions
about do you concur with Secretary of Defense or don't you? I did not
concur. It was pretty fuzzy and I kept wobbling around.
K: I talked to the President and he absolutely want to hold this line.
Z: I am not going to state when U.S S. ground forces are complete.
Responsibility will be taken over by the South Vietnamese.
K: Ron, don't let them drive you any further.
Z: What can I do when it is a statement by the Secretary of Defense.
I can't just ignore it.
K: I would not give too much credence to their statements.
Z: They asked about completion of American troops -
K: Ron - just let's not say any more. I would just say we have no
more to say.
Z: On the supplemental. Read that and then got on Cambodia troops -
K: We are just talking too much. I don't want any more said. Are
you coming along to the Los Angeles Times?
Z: Yes, I think SO. Is that all right?
K: That's fine. I will let them know.
