Page 2 HK: And we will definitely work it out. NR: Great, Henry. How are you feeling? HK: I feel fine. If we were dealing with normal people, I'd be fairly optimistic, but these are maniacs. NR: Well, Sidey's piece, I thought was helpful this morning. HK: I haven't read it yet. NR: Very good. Good piece. HK: I am so mad at the Editorial page of the NYTIMES that I never read it anymore. NR: Oh, you know, what do we expect--I thought their endorsement of McGovern was just two peas in a pod. , McGovern and John Lindsay--there's a great trio. 1 HK: Yeh, but for a internationalist newspaper to support a man who will destroy everything America has stood for in 40 years is almost beyond belief. NR: Yeh, but it's almost beyond belief for a Senator fox who is a candidate to do it too. HK: Well, that is one of the great national disasters. NR: Do things still look okay from the point of view of the elections? HK: Our guys, who of course bokix told me that both Haynesworth and Carswell would glide through the Senate are convinced that we've got it made. But what do you think? NR: My feeling is that if we cango for another 10 days to get into the last month and there is no major trend, that we're all right. HK: That we ought bo be able to do. NR: According to Lloyd Free (?) --that if the trend that set in - - -when you come to the last month it is irreversible. You cannot change a trend in that last month.
