Hello.
T:
Hi, how are you ?
K:
Okay.
T:
I'm sitting down at Miami Beach in the Press Center trying to come back
to the real world instead of the Watergate for a change and there' are
two things bothering me. How serious is the Vietnam business, can you
tell? How do we treat this ? Have you made up your mind what they
intend?
K:
I'd do it two octaves lower than your usual hysteria on the subject.
T:
Really?
K:
"hich means that you have to do 4 octaves lower to get your editors.
You know, I think it's serious but I think it's not beyond salvage and you
shouldn't assume that we're not doing anything.
T:
Right. Diplomatically I suppose apart from what you're doing publicly ?
K:
That's right.
T:
Well, you've taken the public steps. Now one leaves open the possibility
of further action in that regard, doesn't one ?
K:
That's right.
T:
And then one assumes that the diplomatic contacts are underway across
the spectrum?
K:
Well
T:
Well, what about the Soviet Union and China ?
K:
Well, you can assume they're talking to them.
T:
Right. Now to switch geographically for a second. You probably noticed
it coming out of Europe, there's a great deal of speculation from there that
the delay in the European trip can be attributed to the continued instability
of Southeast Asia. I suppose that is --
