Vandenburg we are firing about one of these a month and one of these
missile firings a month represents around $3, $3-1/2, $4 million a
shot, and it's strictly an operational type firing with the same crews
the same missiles completely simulated as opposed to doing it from
the base. Now my question to the Air Force is, by God if you are
firing that thing like that on a fire drill, if you will pardon the expression;,
basis once a month at this expense, why are we not from a technological
standpoint improving our accuracy, and their reply was: theyy really
hadn't thought of this and it might upset the operational side. Well
after spending about 30 minutes with Bob Seamans this afternoon, I have
convinced him that this is not so. From an engineering technological
standpoint we can do this and not upset the operational drill aspect
of it at all, and still under the auspices of this kind of operational testing
be improving our accuracy at the same time. I'm highly in favor of this.
