Telcon Bob Toth April 25, 1973; 1:02 p.m. K: Hello. T: Hi. K: Bob, on that point. T: Yeah. K: Two things. Inever discuss what I discuss with the President. T: Uh, huh. K: But I would go very easy on stories like this. First of all, everything I'm saying is off the record. T: Okah. K: I'd go very easy. My role in all of these discussions has been at the very very periphery. Occasionally I'm asked one question without knowing all the facts. And occasionally people who are worried about how things are going are coming to me. But I have no systematic connection with any of the discussions. T: Uh, huh. I know you didn't want to talk about what you talk to the President about, but at the same time, you know, you're not really saying this is untrue, even off the record. K: I'm saying I cannot be put in the position where I'm either confirming or denying, or being driven into things. And I would much prefer not to be mentioned at all in connection with these discussions, because it's highly misleading. T: Uh, huh. Well, it wouldn't be my story. I mean, that is, I really don't have control, much as I don't have, uh, this is not something that came to me except through other editors, and I was asked to check it out. Henry, on the other thing, are you gonna go to Paris? I mean, is that all set up, because I hear that it's not exactly firm. The meeting with Le Duc Tho. K: Well, between you and me, it's essentially firm. T: It is K: Yeah.
