TELECON William Simon/Secretary Kissinger May 31, 1974 5:25 PM S: Henry, my warmest congratulations. You are truly a great man. K: Aren't you nice. You're a good friend. S: Well, SO are you. I'd love to get together with you and I know how God- damned busy you are. We got some critical negotiations coming up, not only with the Saudis,= which is secondary, I was out at the CIA to talk a little bit today about what their Saudi, Iranian, etc., and some strategy that sort of K: Well, how about noon on Monday? S: Let me take a look at my schedule. I was thinking if you have any time over the weekend, I could do it, I know. I got a lunch with the InternationalMonetary Reform group on Monday, starting at 12:00 noon. Our negotiations with C-20's start. Are you going to be in tomorrow? K: I'm pretty tied up. Can I call you in the morning? S: Of course, I'll be here all day tomorrow and I'll also be available Sunday. K: Sunday, I'm going to take off if hell freezes over. S: Good, for you. K: But we will get together S: One way or the other, we can do it early or late or I'll just accommodate my schedule any way I can, but it's all the former Secretaries of Treasury and bank presidents and what have you that come in to advise us on monetary reform and I just have to make this one. The main issue I. want to talk to you about is vincare gold and interwoven in the entire gold issue is Chisgard (phonetic), Helmut Schmidt, which immediately transents to your area. K: No, we've got to talk soon. I'll call you tomorrow. S: Super. Thank you, Henry, I'm just thrilled and I'm just SO proud that I work work for you and I can't tell you. K: You've been a terrific friend. S: I'll continue to be, you can count on that. K: I'll see you soon. END
