THE RIGHT WAY
If man would try to learn the right way to real peace,
He would have a fuller Life, then tensions would cease.
When we prepare for conflict, hate is sure to increase,
Turn to God, share love and you can find your release.
When man obeys God's law, then his mind can be at ease,
Share Love with your enemies, your Saviour you will
please.
There is much good in this world, for everyone of us,
First! we must be humble, then in God we should trust.
When man finds the right way, this brings peace of mind,
Jesus will lead you, to where God blesses all mankind.
Cast out all hate and malice, let Love rule your life,
Then peace among all Nations, can reign without strife.
When man live's God's rule of love, this will prevail,
Then nothing in this Universe, could cause him to fail.
God has endless power, that can lead His man to good,
Whenever man is ready, he can help build Brotherhood.
So long as Nations continue, trying to rule one another,
There will never be no peace, amongst our Brothers.
God has made a perfect man, to reflect divine Love,
And your reward awaits you, in His kigdom above.
When man goes the right way, he finds peace and rest,
Turn your thought to God on high, He is sure to bless.
Love will bring the answer, when the right way is found,
Then all Nations under God, will be safe and sound.

JAN 16 1968
Dear Senator Jackson,
Walter J. Hickel's appointment as Secretary of the Interior
if confirmed, will be a disaster! His record shows him to be an
exploiter of natural resources. I don't see how a man dedicated to
the industrial development of our last frontier, can be a suitable
defender of the public trust in a department such as the Interior.
Man needs some of this earth left the way God made it, and
Mr. Hickel doesn't seem to understand that we have to protect
what we have left or we won't have anything.
The treatment of native Americans has been a disgraceful
chapter in American conquest. Let's not repeat the mistake in
dealing with the Indians and Eskimos of Alaska.
In my opinion, Mr. Hickel should not be confirmed as
Secretary of the Interior.
Sincerely yours,

WITH
GIANT POST CARD
Association to Eliminate Poverty in America
August 17, 1964
941 Galemont Avenue
La Puente, California
President Johnson
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue
White House
Washington, D. C.
Dear Mr. President:
Poverty can be eliminated without it costing the government a penny. All we need do is
to have some good legislation. Starting with a minimum wage of three dollars an hour.
Retire the senior citizen at 55 or 60 with $300. a month. Guarantee $2,000. a year for
the needy sick. No income tax on the first $10,000. Outlaw all pensions, fringe bene-
fits and subsidies.
This will bring the dollar back. Relief costs are now more than 100 billion dollars a
year. Fringe benefits cost more than 200 billion dollars a year. All this is added to
the product. We have more relief agencies than gas stations in the U. S. This program
will create 20 million new jobs. Vice President Nixon laid this program before the
Senate Committee on Labor in 1958 at my request.
Mr. President, we respectfully request that you set up a citizens' committee here in
Los Angeles to hear my program. These citizens must be persons from a group I accuse of
creating poverty.
Sincerely yours,
WA:hlr
William Anderson
PRESIDENT COPIES OUR SLOGAN
The President of the U. S., Mr. Johnson, copied his slogan "War On Poverty" from our
folder that we sent him. Our slogan is "War To End Poverty" and it is original with us.
Why didn't the President copy our whole program? Mr. Johnson's war on poverty is a
phony. He has no program to end poverty. We have. Our war to end poverty will be
fought by 70 million Americans with the truth, a dime and an X at the poles.
On May 22nd, I sent to the President of the U. S. A. a 4 ft. X 8 ft. postal card with the
same message as this August 17th letter. And I have a letter here from Senator Thomas H.
Kuchel that suggests that the President is afraid of this program. And I asked for a
hearing, but will never get it. And again, on August 17th, I sent Mr. Johnson the same
message on a petition with 110 names on it. But he won't answer. Yes, the President of
the U. S. is afraid of this program. This card was never delivered to the White House.
We paid $12. 40 for mailing, around $70.00 for painting and printing the card. Mr. John-
son got wind the card was coming and had it stopped enroute. I have proof the card was
stopped and the contents noted. I also have proof that Mr. Johnson stopped publicity on
this card.
THE PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION
says that this government shall promote the general welfare, not provide for your welfare.
For the last 30 years, this government has been trying to make us believe that they are
providing for our welfare, but they are not providing or promoting our welfare. Congress
designated the duties of promoting the general welfare of the people over to a new de-
partment in 1913, called the Dept. of Labor.
1
DEPT. OF LABOR AND ITS PURPOSE
The official purpose of the Dept. of Labor as spelled out by Congress is to foster, pro-
mote and develop the welfare of the wage earners in the U. S. A., and to improve their
working conditions and advance their opportunities for profitable employment. So Why
Unions? This is what we of the A.E.P.A. want. We want this government to pass laws that
will promote our welfare. We do not want this government to provide for our welfare, but
the Dept. of Labor then should enforce the law. All we are asking for is that the
government allow us to spend our money as we see fit. We believe we can do more with it
than the government can. We do not like the way this government is spending our money.
MINIMUM WAGE
Congress must first pass a minimum wage law before we can get rid of poverty. This mini-
mum wage law means that you cannot get less than $3.00 an hour, no matter what your job.
This is $6,000. a year, and you can have it if you will help me go after it. You ask,
can this be done? It surely can, with your help. Won't this program raise the cost of
the product? No, it will bring the cost down. Congress must pass another law, outlawing
all fringe benefits. Why? Because this is what is keeping your cost up, and fringe
benefits cost you more at the store than you get where you work. We must outlaw them all
the way from pensions to coffee breaks. This is how we get the money to pay this $3.00
an hour. This must be done in private industry and in all government, National, State
and Local. Government pensions and fringe benefits bring your taxes up. Pensions and
fringe benefits in private industry keep your cost up where you buy. Our program will

DEPARTMENTS THEY WORK FOR WHEN YOU ARE SICK, YOU GO TO YOUR DOCTOR OR HOSPITAL OF YOUR CHOICE AND
THERE WILL BE NO QUESTIONS ASKED, BECAUSE YOUR DOCTOR AND THE HOSPITAL KNOW THAT EVERYBODY IS WORTH
$2,000., AND YOU WILL GET THE BEST OF CARE.
HOW TO DO IT
NOW, YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW CAN ALL THIS BE DONE? WE ARE ALL MAKING $6,000. A YR WELL THEN, WE WILL ALL
PAY A TAX OF $600. A YR. THIS WOULD BE CALLED N.S.T. (NATIONAL SECURITY TAX), AND NOT BY PAY ROLL DE-
DUCTIONS. PAY ROLL DEDUCTIONS ARE OUTLAWED IN OUR PROGRAM.
20 MILLION JOBS. HOW?
WITH THE SENIOR CITIZEN RETIRING AT 55 OR 60, THIS WILL LEAVE A LOT OF JOBS OPEN FOR THE YOUNGER MAN.
AND WITH THE BREAD WINNER MAK ING 000. A YR THERE WILL BE A LOT OF WOMEN WHO WILL STAY AT HOME AND
TAKE CARE OF THEIR CHILDREN. THIS WAY, WE WOULD HAVE LESS CHILD DELINQUENCY AND A LOT MORE JOBS.
WHAT WILL THIS PROGRAM DO FOR ME?
NOW YOU ASK, WHAT TILL THIS PROGRAM 00 FOR ME? I AM ALREADY MAKING $6,000. A YR. ARE YOU? YOUR DOLLAR
IS WORTH ABOUT 37c. HOW DOES OUR PROGRAM HELP YOU OR ANYONE ELSE WHO IS MAKING MORE THAN $6,000. A YR
FIRST, OUR PROGRAM BR INGS THE DOLLAR BACK TO 100 PENNIES. THIS MAKES YOUR 6,000. WORTH A LOT MORE WHEN
YOU GO TO SPEND IT. AND OUR PROGRAM TAKES THE PEOPLE WHO ARE IN POVERTY OUT OF YOUR POCKET. THAT IS,
YOU PAY NO MORE WELFARE COST. THIS WILL GIVE YOU ANOTHER RAISE. OUR PROGRAM CREATES BUY POWER AND
THIS MAKES YOUR JOB MORE SECURE. AND YOU PAY NO INCOME TAX ON THE FIRST $10,000. SO YOU GET ANOTHER
RAISE UNDER OUR PROGRAM. AND YOU ARE SECURE IF SOMEONE IN YOUR FAMILY IS SICK AND IN NEED THEN WHEN
YOU ARE 55 OR 60, YOU GET A REAL PENS IF YOU NEED IT. WE NEED YOU IN OUR ORGANIZATIO AS WELL AS
THOSE WHO ARE MAKING LESS THAN YOU. COME ON AND HELP. IT WILL ONLY COST YOU $1.20 A YR FOR MEMBERSHIP.
AND YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GOOD THAT WOULD D0 FOR YOU AND OUR CAUSE TO END POVERTY.
LET'S PUT YOUR DIME TO WORK
THIS GOVERNMENT WILL DO NOTHING IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK UP. SO LET'S GET TOGETHER AND TELL THEM WHAT WE
WANT. A.E.P.A. WILL SPEAK FOR YOU IF YOU WILL HELP US DO IT. WE ARE HERE TO HELP YOU. WE HAVE A PRO-
GRAM THAT WILL HELP YOU. WE KNOW HOW TO HELP YOU. WE KNOW WHO IS TO BLAME FOR POVERTY. WE KNOW WHY WE
HAVE POVERTY, AND WE KNOW HOW TO LIMINATE IT WE ARE FIGHT FOR ONE RACE OF PEOPLE THE POOR 70
MILLION OF YOU - WHETHER YOU ARE NEGRO OR WHATEVER RACE. S0 ALL OF YOU COME ON AND HELP US WIN THIS
FIGHT. WE CAN IN ITH YOUR DIMES. SEND ME YOUR DIMES AND ORGANIZE CLUBS OF A.E. P .A. IN YOUR EIGHBOR-
HOOD AND WILL TRY AND COME TO SPEAK TO THEM, IF NOT T00 FAR AWAY. YOUR DUES ARE 10c A MONTH - PAID BY
THE YEAR, $1.20. WHEN WE RECEIVE YOUR DUES, WE WILL SEND YOU YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD.
HOW WILL WE SPEND YOUR MONEY?
FIRST, WE WANT TO BUY A PRESS TO PRINT OUR LITERATURE. THEN WE MUST HAVE A PLACE TO 00 OUR PRINT ING AND
AN OFFICE TO ANSWER YOUR MAIL. THEN WE WOULD HAVE TO HIRE SOME GOOD PUBLICITY MEN AND THEY COST MONEY.
BUT WE WILL NEED THEM AND WE WILL HIRE SOME GOOD PROMOTERS TO HELP PUT OUR PROGRAM OVER. WE WILL NEED
A
LOBBYIST TO GO TO WASHINGTON TO PUT OUR PROGRAM OVER WE WILL BUY THE LARGEST SEMI-TRAILER WE CAN IND
AND HAVE IT LETTERED ALL OVER WITH THE NAME OF OUR ORGANIZATION AND ITS PURPOSE. IN THIS TRAILER, WE
WILL HAVE A PUBLIC ADORESS SYSTEM AND AN OFFICE. WE WILL SEND THIS TRAILER ALL OVER THE COUNTRY TELLING
THE PEOPLE OF OUR PROGRAM. WE WOULD HAVE TO HIRE SOME GOOD SPEAKERS TO GO ALONG WITH THIS TRAILER.
THIS IS HOW I WOULD SPEND YOUR DIMES. IF HALF OF THIS 70 MILLI WOULD JOIN OUR ORGANIZATION THIS YEAR,
WE WOULD HAVE OVER 30 MILLION DOLLARS TO FIGHT WITH. NOW YOU SEE WHAT WE CAN DO WITH DINE
WHAT D6 THE UNTONS THINK OF OUR PROGRAM?
THE AFL-C10 CALL THIS PROGRAM TOTALITARIANISM AND THE FLINT GLASS WORKERS UNION SAYS ANYONE JOINING THIS
ORGANIZATION WOULD BE A SUCKER. WELL, THERE ARE A LOT OF SUCKERS IN THE IR OUTFIT SO THEY SHOULD KNOW.
BUT DON'T FEEL BAD. THE UNIONS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND S0 DD YOU. THEY KNOW IF OUR PRO-
GRAM WERE TO GO THROUGH CONGRESS, THEY WOULD BE OUT OF BUS INESS SO WOULD CHARITIES AND WELFARE DEPTS.
WE WOULD NOT NEED THEM ANY MORE. UNIONS CREA POVERTY. 00 UNIONS WORK FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC? NO,
THEY DO NOT. WE BELIEVE INGE BENEFITS AND PENS ARE UNCONSTITUT IONAL AND THAT THE UNIONS OF THIS
COUNTRY ARE ILLEGALLY TAXING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE FOR THESE THINGS. EVERY TIME THESE UNIONS STRIKE, THEY
STRIKE AGAINST THE PUBL WE PAY THE FREIGHT BUT DO NOT ALL GET THE FRUIT. SEE SECTION 8 OF THE CON-
STITUTIO ON TAXATION.
SOCIETY IS TO BLAME FOR POVERTY
SOME /RITERS WHOM I READ AND SOME PEOPLE TALK TO SAY SOCIETY IS TO BLAME FOR POVERTY. THEY ARE RIGHT.
BUT WHO AND WHAT IS SOCIETY? SOCIETY IS YOU YOUR CHURCH-CHAR ITABLE ORGANIZATIONS-OUR EDUCATORS-
FREE ENTERPRIS ORGANIZAT IONS-CHAMBER OF COMMERCE-MEDICAL ASSOC. THE CONGRESS OF THE U.S .-OUR
PUBL IC IALS, BOTH NATIONAL, STATE AND LOCAL-OUR TWO POLITICAL PARTIES-AND OUR LABOR UNIONS.
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CREATE POVERTY; MOST OF THEM FOR SELF GAIN. NOW YOU.KNOW WHAT SOCIETY IS IT
IS ALL OF US. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHOM ASKED MR. JOHNSON TO GET ME A HEARING WITH. NOW LET'S PROVE
WHETHER THIS GROUP WOULD HELP US GET RID OF POVERTY OR NOT.
LET'S CHALLENGE THEM
OUR CHURCHES ARE WORTH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS. THEY ARE WORTH BILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS CHARITA-
BLE ORGANIZATIONS ARE ALSO WORTH BILLIONS. AND OUR TWO POLITICAL PART IES CAN HELP ALSO. OUR LABOR
UNIONS ARE WORTH MILLIONS. WE ARE ASKING THESE GROUPS THAT ARE LOUSY WITH MONEY, TO PUT UP 5 MILLION
DOLLARS TO HELP US PUT THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD.
THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T NEED THIS INCOME TAX. YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW CAN WE OUTLAW THE INCOME TAX ON
OUR FIRST $10, 000 THAT'S EASY. JUST PASS A LAW TO 00 IT THE HARD PART IS TO GET YOU TO GO AFTER IT.
YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY THE GOVERNMENT WILL LOSE IF WE DO THIS? THE GOVERNMENT WILL LOSE JUST
45 BILLION DOLLARS CAN OUR GOVERNMENT GET ALONG WITHOUT THIS MONEY? YES FIRST REMEMBER, WE ARE TO
STOP ALL PENSIONS AND FRINGE BENEFITS IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. FEDERAL PENSIO ALONE COME TO 22
BILLION DOLLARS A YR. THIS IS 22 BILL OF OUR 2/5 BILLION THAT THE GOVERNMENT DOESN' NEED. AND
FRINGE BENEFITS FOR GOVERNMENT WORKERS COST YOU ANOTHER QUARTER OF A BILLION DOLLARS. THEN WE WILL CUT
OUT ALL SUBSIDIES, SUCH AS FOREIGN AID, FARM AND COLLEGE SUBSIDIES. IN OTHER WORDS, ALL SUBSIDIES AND
CLOSE DOWN ALL WELFARE BUREAUS. NOW YOU CAN SEE THEY DO NOT NEED THIS 45 BILLION DOLLARS. LET'S TAKE
IT AWAY FROM THEM. YOU AND I CAN 00 IT. AND WE WILL ALSO SAVE A LOT OF TAX MONEY WHEN CLOSE DOWN
ALL STATE AND LOCAL WELFARE DEPARTMENTS. YOU CAN SAVE THEIR WAGES AND WHAT YOU PAY THEM IN PENSIONS AND
FRINGE BENEFITS CAN WE DO THIS? YES. LET'S GO. STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS ARE COSTING YOU TWO AND
ONE HALF BILLION DOLLARS A MONTH. THAT'S TOO MUCH MONEY. AND ON TOP OF THIS, 00 NOT FORGET THAT THE
UNIONS TAX YOU EVERY TIME THEY HAVE A STRIKE. EVERY TIME THIS SMALL GROUP GETS A RAISE, WE SMALL PEOPLE
GET A CUT. OUR PAY STAYS THE SAME, BUT PRICES GO UP COSTING YOU MORE. THE POOR OLD MAN ON SOCIAL
SECURITY, DRAWING FORTY-TWO DOLLARS A MONTH, PAYS FOR THE UNIONS' FRINGE BENEFITS AND ALSO THEIR BIG
PENSIONS. LET'S STOP THIS RACKET. LET'S APPEAL TO ALL FOUNDATIONS - THEY ARE WORTH BILLIONS TOO.

Office of President-Elect Richard Nixon
Washington, D.C.
Dear Sir:
I am enclosing an editorial giving you an excellant suggest-
ion as to what to do with your "ADVISOR", Kissehger (GOD HELP
US, NO ONE ELSE CAN **WITHSUCH ADVISORS) , though I have no
real hope you will take such advice. It becomes more evident
with each "APPOINTMENT", that George Wallace was right when
he said there "ISN'T A DIMES WORTH OF DIFFERENCE" between you
and bumbling Lyndon, who sent the cream of our youth to die
in a war they were not permitted to win.
Also your mistaken choice of"HOOF IN MOUTH" Scranton, who is
giving aid and comfortto the Arabs, raises doubt as to where
you will take this country.
I'm just an overburdened middle-class tax payer, who is fed
up with the mess made by the Johnson administration, who
HOPED you would avoid employing Egg Heads, who have lead us
down the path to ruin and subversion, but you are not living
up to your promise to change this trend.
Yours Truly,
me L.J. minor

An Editorial
Fire Kissinger!
According to the well-known Washington
correspondent Paul Scott, in his article at the
top of our back page today, the Johnson ad-
ministration has approved a 90,000 cutback in
U.S. troops in South Vietnam.
Like so many things in the Johnson admin-
istration, this has been carefully kept from the
public.
There is now a debate going on among the
supporters of Richard Nixon as to whether the
Nixon administration should carry out the Clark
Clifford-LBJ plan. The incoming Secretary of
Defense, Representative Melvin Laird (R-Wis),
vigorously opposes any cutback in U. S. forces
while fighting continues in South Vietnam. The
new Secretary of Defense argues, quite proper-
ly, in the opinion of this newspaper, that contin-
ued U. S. military pressure on the North Viet-
namese is needed to bring about a cease-fire and
that any U.S. troop reduction now will weaken
the hand of our U. S. negotiators in Paris. Laird
feels that any cutback would encourage the
North Vietnamese to believe that, if they just
wait, the U. S. will pull out of Vietnam unila-
terally.
Former President Dwight Eisenhower, act-
ing immediately after he became President, in-
creased the number of U.S. troops in Korea and
he is also against any reduction of the U. S.
forces in Vietnam. In fact, Eisenhower wants
President Nixon to go further: He wants Nixon
to send a secret warning to Hanoi that if Hanoi
does not agree to a cease-fire by a fixed date full
military force will be used in Vietnam.
There is one man in the Nixon administra-
tion who is acting just as this newspaper pre-
dicted. Harvard Professor Henry A. Kissinger,
Nixon's ill-chosen White House foreign policy
adviser, wants to withdraw the troops. He says
it will be a signal to Hanoi that the U. S. is
ready to begin general withdrawal of U. S.
forces if there is reduced fighting.
THIS IS TYPICAL OF THE HARVARD
PROFESSOR TYPE OF UNREALISTIC AP-
PROACH THAT HAS DONE so MUCH HARM

Any withdrawal of U.S. troops now will be
regarded, by them - as the next Secretary of

nize-as a sign of weakness and a lack of will
to continue the battle. This will encourage Ha-

This first miserable decision by Professor
Kissinger should bring about his dismissal from

God Our Parent; the highest role the Nation can
play is to reflect God's righteousness in National Policy,
as In God We Trust inscribed on our money (coins).
"What is it that makes our Nation different? The only
surviving Nation on earth that had its origin in the deter-
mination of the founding Fathers to establish a settle-
ment to the glory of God and the advancement of the Chris-
tian Faith."
They had come from the old world and were seeking
refuge in the new.
They had come from fear and force, they had come
from famine and from difficulty, from wars and threats
of wars.
They sought a new life in a new land, for religious
liberty to worship God according to the dictates of one's
conscience, and equal opportunity for all men. These are
the twin pillows of the American Dream.
Now a covenant nation is one that recognizes its de-

time I have heard any question on this since election day.
This question has come about on the doubling of the salary. You
know, it's hard to talk to a man about his pocketbook, and I realize
that office is worth the money -- and probably cost even more than a

building up. Secondly, the surtax is there, and.I, for one, will
support this until our dollar is returned to some stability and it
is realized by the world that our Government means business and
means to return to reason and stability.

There are the interest rates now, too, when people are having to pay
7%, 8% and in some cases, above this - in order to buy a house, an
automobile and home appliances. I feel this is a critical time and
if we shake the people's faith in you, we could well have a major
depression which I certainly don't want to see. The people need a
strong man to lean on -- a man whom they can have the utmost con-

I hope you will postpone until next term, or only accept half of
this salary increase -- or do something to let the public know that
you - for one - mean business. Failing to do this, I don't know
how you can ask industry to take a smaller profit, ask the unions

turns down the House-passed proposal of Presi-
dent Johnson to raise his salary from $100,000

must take a stand on the proposal to give mem-

May I say that I heartily agree with Mr. Loeb and that
I do hope most sincerely that you will follow the course sug-
gested by him.
I am sure you agree that the current inflation must be
checked, and that to this end government must curtail rather
than increase its expenditures. If you, the country's Chief
Executive, should accept the proposed increase in your salary
and fail to oppose the other salary increases it would seem
obvious that your influence in favor of economy would be des-
troyed.

Dear Mr. President Elect:
In my opinion, the smartest and most effective
move you could make for the good of the country would be
to repudiate the raise contemplated for the President.
If Congress and the President receive an in-
crease, at this time, I do not see how it is possible for your
administration to effectively deal with unions and industry to
successfully combat inflation.
I sincerely hope that you will disassociate your-
self with this movement for the good of the people and, I
personally think, to strongly enhance your political stature.

A page in some future child'shistory book might look like this:
"By the middle of the twentieth century men had reached a peak of insanity.
They grouped together in primitive nation-states, each nation state condoning
organized murder as the way to deal with international differences. Between
1914 and 1960, one hundred and fifty million people had died as a result of
wars and violent revolutions. Some of the larger nations spent as much as 83%
of the national budget to build weapons which everyone agreed were too de-
structive ever to be used In spite of the fact that violence had failed to bring
the things that men said they longed for peace, freedom (which means 'peace
and love'), brotherhood of man, etc., men continued to cling to violence.
When the concept of organized nonviolence was first introduced it was, naturally,
misunderstood and rejected for many years, its proponents written off as unpa-
triotic, unrealistic, idealistic, evil or just plain crazy

Dear Senator Jackson;
I'm utterly amazed and dismayed at the
appointment of Governor Walter Hickel to the post of Secretary
of the Interior.
His supporters would like to claim conserva-
tionists are taking his statements out of context. I would like
to inform you, as a former Anchorage Alaska resident, that his
intemperate recent statements ARE consistent with his reputation
in his home state of Alaska.
Mr. Hickel has the well-earned reputation
of being in favor of the wholesale alteration of our environment,
merely to benefit the financial well-being of a select few.
I urge you to do everything in your power
to prevent the now vastly significant part of Secretary of the
Interior from falling into the hands of the raiders.
With the trend established under Secretary
Udall, we teachers have been able to take an optimistic attitude
towards the possibility of repairing some of our past blunders.
Let's hope the progress of the past decade is not going to be lost.
Lee mann Sincerely
Mr. Lee Mann

Mr. Richard M. Nixon,
President-Elect
Washington, D.C.
Dear Mr. Nixon:
I am shocked beyond belief by the fact that while President
Johnson speaks with pride of the low rate of unemployment,
one of your proposed cabinet members indicates that he would
consciously take a course of action designed to increase
unemployment in the hope that this might reduce inflation.
How can anyone be so callous as to inflict an economic catas-
trophy on thousands of breadwinners who are now working and
supporting their families?
If you do not share this indifference toward human values,
if you think of people as individuals and not just a statistic,
I trust you will refute your man's proposal and make it clear
that your forthcoming administration will show sensitivity
and understanding toward the needs of citizens in the formulation
of national policy.
Respectfully yours,
Elmond L Hearrly
