MEETING WITH FORMER PRESIDENT TRUMAN INDEPENDENCE, MISSOURI FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 1969 PRESIDENT'S SCENARIO: 10:50 a.m. You will arrive at the Kansas City, Missouri CST Municipal Airport. THERE WILL BE NO GREETING COMMITTEE. Motorcade to Independence, Missouri. 11:20 a.m. You and Mrs. Nixon will arrive at the Truman Residence and you will be escorted into their home. The Trumans will meet you inside the house. The Former President will host you and Mrs. Truman will visit with the First Lady. It is expected that you will spend approximately twenty minutes in the house. No pictures will be allowed inside the residence at the request of the Trumans. SPECIAL NOTE: The Former President's health is not good. Therefore, the schedule for your visit to Independence has been tailored to the kind of activity the Former President can handle. 11:40 a.m. You and the Former President followed by your wives will exit from the Truman Residence out on to the porch and down the walk-way to your auto- mobile. There will be a crowd on the far side of the street. It is recommended that you wave to the crowd and then get into your car. It is felt that it would be unwise to leave the Former President and proceed over to the crowd since you will have a good opportunity to shake hands with the citizens of Independence while you are at the Library.
