6 BROCK Bill Brock recently said: "After having voted for 17 years for every left-winger that came down the pike, Gore wouldn't vote for two Southerners nominated" for the Supreme Court "Whether Albert, Teddy or Halfbright like it or not, we are part of the US and we make it better for being part of it. 11 Brock added: "The people who employ a representative are the boss - - not the other way around. Nobody from Teddy on down, is going to tell a Tennessean how to vote. 11 (Jack Hurst in 9/20 Nashville Tennessean) NEW YORK Two-thirds of New York's voters describe them- selves as conservatives or moderates. They are unhappy the way things are going and almost 1/3 are undecided who to vote for. The State is a "middle-aged electorate, moving to the right and depressed about the state of the nation. 11 The big issues are VN, the cost of living, crime, drugs and campus unrest. 35% identified themselves as H-whit It "conservatives", 34% as "moderate" and 23% "lib- eral. 11 61% said they were part of the "silent majority. 11 75% thought Rocky would beat Goldberg. Buckley gets 2 GOP votes for every one Goodell receives yet better than 40% of his support is from Dems. 53% who are going to vote for Rocky also intend to vote for Buckley. Another finding is that significant numbers of Dems are moving away from their party. VN appears to have "minimal" impact on the election. Drugs and pollution issues on the other hand, are identified with candidates. One of the most striking findings is that Rockefeller's ideological profile is almost identical to the self- image of the people interviewed.
