Rep. Fulton (D-Tenn.) urged RN to appoint special prosecutor to
remove "terrible dilémma" of "eroded public confidence" in Justice's
investigation
Nader said RN should resign because Watergate
was "rampant w/illegality" and "subversive of the integrity of the
electoral process. 11 If RN "didn't know about it, he should have. 11
Reagan said Gallup on Watergate (that people think 41% - 32%
that RN had advance knowledge)is "a tribute and a testimonial to
the ability of those who've been blowing this thing up and carrying
it as far along to the next election as they can. 11 He cited media
and Ervin panel investigators.
GRAND JURIES/OTHER WATERGATE
NBC/CBS noted Anderson said he was told witnesses were afraid
anything they said could end up in my columns. "We are working for
the same purposes, to get to the bottom of Watergate

he was not going to reveal the source. He emphasized no deals or
promises were made "but I listened w/an open mind as possible

On ABC film of CREP's "specious" telegrams, Larry Carrol,
former LA CREP media liason told of campaign director's secy.
after receiving call from director, telling staff they had to
immediately begin campaign to get out telegrams to WH supporting
mining action. Carrol said 20 staffers called other workers to send
telegrams, some called friends and acquaintances for permission
to use their names, some didn't get authorization, and some chose
names at random from phone book. Carlson reported Carrol claims
$1,000 in cash was paid by committee for action. Nofziger on
film said action wasn't question of people paying but asking people
to do it.
NBC's Rollings noted Patricia O'Leary, woman listed on Times
ad as coordinator, refused interview but had said she received
number of calls from "govt people" who expressed wish she not talk.
