Dear Mr. Roeder:-
upin Your letter June 15th on hand. Forwarding of
checks in the way practiced during my past connection with R. L. M. will
be perfectly satisfactory to me.
Sorry I could not attend matter of Bilstein any sooner
since I just arrived this noon from out the town trip.
If it is desirable I would talk over the matter of changing
the grades of undark with Bilstein and after several samples are made and
compared by me, I would suggest what I would do in the case.
Be it under-
stood, however, that the fact does not need to be considered as intrusion
on my part.
Comparison of old and new material off hand and roughly
speaking would look as follows:-
Old
Mkrgr
New
D
100
75
E
66.6
55
F
50
40
G
33.3
27 or 25
H

JM I
16.6
16.6
J
12.5
12.5
Using new zinc and maintaining its quality constant or
(it is hard to do that in present zinc lab.) selecting only suitable zinc -
that is rejecting any run not coming up to quality - will make this reduction
- 2 -
practical, and will give same luminosity S.S older ratio - in grades down to H.
From that point downward I would not decrease at present amount of Meso since
Mr. Bilstein is not acquainted yet with tricks how to overcome difficulties
arising in case of lower grades.
In graduation 8.8 above, you will notice also that material H does
not have right to exist, since you would have 2 identical grades G and H to
deal with. Of course lower grades could be slightly modified also.
Regarding Dr. Moriarta, I expect to 800 him next week but I cannot
say whether I will be of any help in view of his idéosyncrasy to company - -
due to fact that I am not there any more.
With regards,
Yours,
(Signed)
Dr. S. A. Sochocky.
