January 21, 1926. Mr. Josiah Stryker, c/o Lindabury, Depur & Faulks, Prudential Building, 763 Broad Street, Newark, N. J. Dear Mr. Stryker: Your letter of the 20th leads me to believe that there is some misunderstending between Mr. McGlynn and his Company because when the Insurance Company accepted the defense of the suit it was clearly stated that they would pay the cost in preparation. Mr. McGlynn asked us for help in selecting medical authorities, and Mr. Tams, Mr. Lee and I went with Mr. McGlynn to see Dr. Gilman Thompson. Thompson recommended Dr. Flinn and we have been cooperating with Dr. Flinn since. However, it was clearly on Mr. McGlynn's authority and instruction to us that we retain Dr. Flinn. Regardless of the first item, it seems to me that the Company is setting a very low estimate on the probable cost of defense and ensuing appeal if one is taken. In view of the discrepancy between their understanding and ours, it seems best that we should confer on the subject promptly. Mr. Lee and I will arrange to meet at the convenience of the others. I see no reason for deferring "brass tacks" negotiations between McGlynn and Kalisch so that we can come to a decision. Of course all of the cases should be treated as a whole. Yours truly, President. ARoeder-HM
