UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA RECEIVE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY September 10, 1928 Mr. H. H. Barker RADK United States Radium Corporation 535 Pearl Street New York City My dear Howard: I got back from Michigan this morning early and have resumed my university duties. While up in the Michigan woods, I spent nearly all the time roaming about the woods and the lake shore, and I did not even transcribe the notes of the laboratory experiments which Dr. Flymn and I did during the last week; but must say that a week in Michigan was a wonderful recreation. True, I was a sort of a recluse but I just enjoyed the outing. Before many years you and Mrs. Barker will want a summer place to visit for your vacation and I am sure you will find this place in Michigan a wonderful one for rest and recreation. From the golf course you can see both Crystal Lake and Lake Michigan. A hundred foot front lot will cost you $1800 and the cottage must cost about two and a half to three times the value of the lot, but this will include membership in the Country Club with all the rights and privileges pertaining thereto. When I wrote you from Michigan suggesting the experiments, I do not know whether I mentioned what I had in mind about making the radium determinations, I had in mind that you would send me the samples and that I would make the determinations of their radium content as my part of the work. Within the next few days I shall count up how much money I have left deducting the expenses of my Michigan trip and will then render you a more or less complete statement. I shall also write a few words to Dr. Flymn regarding these proposed experiments and I will enclose a copy of the letter herewith. With very kind personal regards to both you and Mrs. Barker, I remain Very sincerely yours, Herman Selecurt HS e b
