Dr. Janes Bwing,
Department of Pathology,
First Avenue and 28th St.,
N.Y.C.
Dear Dr. Evingi
Anaworing your lester of Fobruary lat, regarding
the dental work to be done for irs. berice:
Tie outlined our position in this mattex to you
on last Thursday, which is that to are very anxious to keep the
exponses within the provision of the settlement agreement, and
there is a question in our ainds as to whether this dental work
would core under the term of reasonable medical service.
However, this might be considered as extracrilnery or unusual
treatment for the purpose of euring Larice from the effects
of *radium poisoning, and if so you have our euthorization to
proceed sith the work, since the medical comaission have recommend-
ed it.
Tie want to be eminently fair in this matter, but
can see where a precedent might be established for rather far
reaching expenditures. The girls were each paid a sum of
$10,000 and receive a pension of $600.00 a year, and therefore,
should be in a financial position to bear at least part 07° all
of en expense such as this, which cannot clearly be brought within
the terms of the settlement agreement. lla wish you to feel,
however, that we appreciate the efforts of the medical commission
and wish to cooperate to as full an extent as is possible.
Very truly yours,
President.
