Dear Ms. Cutler:
ITORTANI
ASTARAWI
The Pit River Tribal Chairman and Delegation have decided to postpone our trip to
Washington DC. We will be in Washington on March 14th, 15th and 16th.
We have postponed our trip in order to be able to talk to the same people that the
geothermal companies that propose to affect the sacred Medicine Lake Highlands have
talked to. The same people need to hear the Tribe's side. Because you have already been
involved with the decision makers and the companies, the Tribe needs a meeting with you
in a government-to-government consultation.
APORIGE
A decision on the geothermal projects is imminent, and the Pit River Tribal Membership
recently reaffirmed its position relative to geothermal development in the Medicine Lake
Highlands. The resulting resolution is here included.
The Pit River Tribe has been misrepresented by the geothermal companies and by a couple
of individual tribal members, a non-governmental part of the Tribe. It is crucial that we
clarify our position. This can only be done in a face to face meeting.
