Bus E. Humb,
"OLD GLORY NAILED TO THE NORTH POLE".
mayfield,
From the ancient walls of China,
My
From Afric's burning sand,
From England's vast dominion,
From our own sunry land-
All eyes are turned in wonder,
To behold "Gld Glory "fair
Perched upon the North Pote,
For Peary nailed her there.
Chorus-
Oh!wave ye glorious "Stars and Stripes,"
And WOO the borealice,
While Peary's name drinks deep of fame
From out the icy chalice.
(2)
The Eagle flaps her pinions wide,
And screams above the blast-
The "Old Ice King is conquered,
The Pole is found at last",
All honor'to the heroes,
For there's enough to share;
But Peary climbed the North Pole,
And nailed "Old Glory"there.
Chorus.
(3)
Ch haste ye magic messengers,
Along your living wire-
Proclaim to every ration,
From out your tongues of fire,
The proud bird of America,
Whose gallant son did dare,
To climb the frigid North Pole
And nail "Old Glory"there
(4)
Chorus.
To Sir John Franklin and DeLong,
To greely and to all,
Who braved the dangers of the North,
True to their country's call,
Fe everlasting gratitude,
The nations'all behest;
Fut Robert Edwin Peary,hail!
