Dear Mrs. Roosevelt:
Again, I am in trouble. Beginning last October, my engage-
ments have numbered almost as many as yours. As you know,
I have also turned columnist, and while my schedule is not as
rigorous as yours, it bothers me every time I have to make a
date or write a column.
I have been urged by family and friends to get out of the coun-
try for a while and just sit and rest a bit. The strenuous last
two or three weeks have made me realize that I need rest, and
I am sorry to admit it.
If plans work out, Mrs. Truman and I will leave/ the country
on May 26th for about forty-five days. I regref this situation
very much, because I have been looking forward to this Mem-
orial Day visit with you, but I feel compelled to break loose
for at least a few weeks.
Sincerely yours,
Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt
