My dear Sir:
By direction of the President, I send you the en-
closed letter from Colonel A. 0. Brodie, of Crown
Point, Arizona. The President knows Mr. Alexander
personally, and is informed by Commissioner Jones that
his record in the Indian Service is excellent The
President wishes to know if the appointment can prop-
erly be made, and will be glad to have you bring the
matter to his attention, as he wishes to have Alexan-
der appointed if there are no good reasons to the con-
trary
