RECORDING* I have with me in the Voice of America studios in Washing- ton Mr. Earl J. McGrath, the United States Commissioner of Education. Mr. McGrath is expecting to leave Washington late in September as a member of the U. S. Delegation to the Montevideo Seminar on primary education in the Americas. Q. Now, Mr. McGrath, what will be the precise purpose of your trip? A. Yes, Mr. Hogan, I expect that if it is at all possible, to go to Montevideo some time in September to attend the Montevideo Seminar on Primary Education in the Americas. This conference which is sponsored jointly by the UNESCO, the Organization of American States, and the Government- of Jruguay is, in my opinion, one of the most important conferences on education held in recent years. Q. What are the objectives of this seminar, Mr. McGrath? A. The objectives of the seminar are principally concerned with the matter of securing a fundamental education for all the children of the Americas.
