My dear Goneral Dugan:
It giveo ne a grost deal of plensure to extend
to you and the officaza and non of the 35th Division
my complimente upon their excellent appearance at the
review and inmeation on Fobruary 17th nesz Commeroy.
It was (antifying to see your troops in such good
physionl mhape and to see tham no woll aquippod. It
is atill more centifying, howev or, to know that the
moral tons of all rankn is ao high. It is hopod that
this will contimue to the end of thoir nervice and will
remain after their return to civil life a, one or the
momt lasting and beneficial remulte of their military
experience.
The Division is to be congratulated on its reaord
in France. Arriving on May 11th, its troining with the
British Expeditionary Fozaes wan out short and by the
end of June it Was placed in a quiet sector of the line
whore it released for the battle voteran divisions. On
September 36th it attacked with the Amerionn Firat Army
in the Moune-Argonne offensive, dapturing Varrones, Cheppy,
Charpentry and Baulny. It thon withdramn from the
battle and took ponition in the Somme-Dieue Sector until
the armästice.
The officera and mon of your Division may proudly
oarry home with them the gratitude of the Allies with
whom they fought and the pride of thoir follora through-
out our
