Dear Mr. Campbell:
This will acknowledge your letter of October fifth,
addressed to the President, inviting him to send you a statement
concerning the loyalty program for use in your publication.
Your interest is appreciated, but I regret that it is
not possible for the President to accept your invitation, as he
adheres strictly to a policy of not writing anything for the
exclusive use of an individual publication. In fairness to the
many others who have made similar requests, he could not make
an exception in this instance.
The President has discussed the subject in which you
are interested in some of his public statements and addresses,
notably the address he delivered at Oklahoma City on September
twenty-eighth. I am enclosing a copy of the complete text in
the event that you did not have an opportunity to read all of it.
