The President has received your
letter of October eleventh and appreciates
your interest in letting him have this ex-
pression of your views. He asks me to advise
you that on October seventeenth he returned
8. 1407 to the Senate without his approval.
I am sending you the enclosed copy
of the President's veto message for your ready
reference.
