Dear Mr. Houghton:
Thank you very much for your letter of
November twelfth telling of your plans to exhibit
a replica of the gift of the President and Mrs.
Truman's for the wedding of the Princess Elizabeth.
It is not possible for the President to

endorse the exhibit since this would be out of
line with the invariable policy of the White House.
You must simply use your own judgment in the
matter.
