SPEECH OF HONORABLE HARRY S. TRUMAN,
DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR VICE PRESIDENT
AT PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVAN IA.
Mr.
Cha
inman,
Ladies and Gentlemen:
This is my last speech before election
except for a report to my neighbors when I
get back to Independence, Missouri.
Pittsburgh I like all other great indust-
rial communities will go Democratic. Everyone
expects this because the work ing men know
which party they can rely upon to watch out
labor.
for the welfare of the working man.
As far back as I can remember, the
Republican Platform al ways has contained
LABOR
promises designed to convince the working
it
man that can trust the Republican Party.
Harding and Coolidge and Hoover were
elected on platforms that pledged them-and
the Republican Party to work for the benefit
of labor. But you know what happened.
The
Republican
Party
did
not
help
labor
get
better
