SPEFCH OF HONORABLE HARRY S. TRUMAN,
DEMOCRATIO GAND1DATE FOR VICE PRESIDENT
AT PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANTA.
Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen:
This is my last speech before election
except for a report to my neighbors when I
get back to Independence, Miscouri.
Pittsburgh I like all other great indust-
rial communities will go Democratic. Everyone
expects this because the working men know
which party they rely upon to watch out
for the welfare of the working man.
As far back as I can remember, the
Republican Platform always has contained
promises designed to convince the working
man that he can trust the Republican Party.
Harding and Coolidge and Hoover were
elected on platforms that pledged them and
the Republican Party to work for the benefit
of labor. But you know what happened. The
Republican Party did not help labor get better
