White House Dinner for OAS
April 15, 1972
Once again, Mrs. Nixon and I are honored to welcome the
representatives of the OAS to the White House.
I. We grew up in Southern California, which shares
with most of the Americas a strong Spanish heritage.
2. The name that we gave to our home in San Clemente
is "Casa Pacifica."
3. We named it, of course, for the Pacific Ocean,
which it overlooks.
(I) But here in this gathering, among our friends
from the hemisphere of the Americas, let me
say also that -- in another sense of the word --
this organization of ours will also always be
a house of peace.
