I. PURPOSES
To better inform House Republicans of your position on
Watergate related issues; announce your initiatives and
seek their public support.
II. BACKGROUND, PARTICIPANTS AND PRESS PLAN
A. Background:
1.
Some Members of Congress have called for personal
explanations of facts surrounding Watergate, particularly
the "tapes" issue. They may want to ask their own
questions to resolve any doubts resulting from media
reports.
2. You released a statement on Monday offering the Court
additional helpful information: diary dictatape of Mitchell
telephone conversation, diary dictatape of Dean meeting
on March 21st, your personal notes from April 15th
meeting with Dean and a tape - not subpoenaed - from
Dean meetings on April 16th.
B. Participants:
In Tab A. GOP leaders Ford, Rhodes and Michel are in
this group.
C. Press Plan:
Press Office to announce meeting. Ollie Atkins
to take pictures at start of breakfast.
