THE PRESIDENT'S ATTENDANCE AT
SEAFARER'S INTERNATIONAL UNION CONVENTION
STATLER HILTON HOTEL
Monday - November 26, 1973

BACKGROUND:
This is the 16th Biennial Convention of the Seafarers Union which will be
attended by approximately 300 to 400 delegates, representing 85,000 members
of the Union. During the course of the Convention, the Delegates will hear
various Administration speakers including Vice President-designate Ford,
Secretary Frederick Dent, and Helen Bentley, Federal Maritime Com-
missioner.
This Convention will take on a workshop atmosphere in that the Delegates will
be seated at tables rather than audience style. There is a head table where
the principal officers are seated.
You are speaking at the opening session of the 1973 Convention, and prior to
your arrival the only activities will have been of a business nature. Your
participation will be to receive a model of the T.T. Brooklyn and deliver
remarks to the assembled Delegates.
SEQUENCE OF EVENTS:
10:20 a.m.
Depart South Driveway.
NOTE:
Secretary Brennan will accompany
you in the motorcade.
(Driving time: 5 minutes.)
10:25 a.m.
Arrive Main Entrance Statler Hilton Hotel where you
will be met by a four man honor Committee consisting
of Union Vice Presidents.
