M our, Gene - names ! December 2, 1994 MEMORANDUM FOR LEON PANETTA ERSKINE BOWLES FROM: Harold Ickes HD SUBJECT: Gene Moos- Deputy Undersecretary for Farm Programs and Trade, Department of Agriculture Lee Swenson, President of the National Farmers Union and a strong supporter of the Administration, called to register a very strong complaint about Gene Moos who, I understand is the Deputy Undersecretary for Farm Programs and Trade and who is very close to Congressman Foley (having worked for the Congressman for a number of years). According to Mr. Swenson, Mr. Moos is quoted extensively in a recent Spokane, Washington newspaper article taking shots at the White House, touting his close friendship with Bob Dole, and taking shots at Bo Cutter and Secretary Espy. Mr. Swenson questions why someone with that attitude should be retained. As soon as I get the newspaper article I will send it to you.
