Source Description
Samuel W. Wheeler writes to William Lloyd Garrison enclosing "the Minority Report to the Congregational Consociation of Rhode Island, which you may incline to publish." Wheeler says that "they hung up the matter another year but have passed some good Testimony in relation to slavery unanimously." In the postscript, he states "the Prov[idence] Journal is out in favor of executing the Fugitive Slave Law."

Title devised by cataloger.
On verso, the letter is addressed to "Wm L. Garrison Editor Liberator, Boston, Mass." and is postmarked with a black circular stamp reading, "Providence R.I. Jun 16." The letter was originally sealed with two green pieces of paper that state, "Are you a FREEMAN, and yet have no concern about slavery? Do as you would be done by. Proclaim liberty to the captives." and "It is a disgrace that we ever had any connexion with slavery, and a still greater reproach that we have done so little for its removal."
