September 15, 1927. Miss Agnea H. Von Kurowsky, c/o Sanitary Engineer, U.S.M.C., Haitian General Hospital, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. My dear Miss Von Kurowsky: It wae, indeed, & great disappoint- ment not to see you when you called at National Headquarters, but it is impossible for a person to be in two places at the sametime, is it not? You have a double hold upon me now, for you are not only one of my own students from Ballevue, but your connection with the Red Cross in Europe and later your connection with the Hatiain School has developed additional links of association and pleasure. I presume by the time this letter reaches you that Miss Moser will alrea y have left. Her letter of September 7th, etated - that *re. Lanone had arrived and was pleased with the home, and seemed to be fitting into the work. She spoke of the "comfort bage" for the nurses next Christmas. I will pass her suggestions on to Ar. Bicknell, and be in the meantime will see that they are passed on to the chaptere who have been good enough to make them. Mise Moser asked for fifty, and suggested white shoe polish and another pair of white stockinge instead of the paper and envelopes. I will see if this can be arranged. I hope that you reached Haiti safely and found everything in good condition. It was very nice to see General Russell & few days ago, when he came in to talk over the situation with me and also to discuss the possibility of reduced rates on the Panama-American Line for the American Red Cross nurses. I urged him to do everything he possibly could to secure this, which he promised to do. Incidentally, he spoke in the highest terms of the work the nurses had been able to accomplish. He W8.8 very flattering not only in what he said about you, but also in what he said about the selections that we had made.
