All members of VIGOR'S crew were transferred to MINCH. There were no injured. CLEVELAND (AP), April 27. S.S. JAMES H. REED (U.S. Cgo. 5,265 tons) sank about 1030 4, April 27 as a result of a collision in the fog 40 miles North of ERIE, PA., with S.S. ASHCROFT (Br. Cgo. 7,726 tons). 26 crew members picked up. 10 missing. REED was enroute from BUFFALO to TOLEDO. ASHEROFT was reported to be heavily damaged, and was taken in tow by rescue boats.
